The Korea Football Association (KFA) accelerates the selection of a successor to manager Paulo Bento along with a budget review.
The association announced on the 13th that it held the last board meeting of this year at the Seoul Soccer Hall in Jongno-gu and deliberated on next year’s budget.
The budget of the Korea Football Association for 2023 set by the board of directors on this day is 158.1 billion won. This is an increase of 44 billion won from this year’s budget of 114.1 billion won, the largest budget ever. The previous maximum budget was 123.4 billion won in 2013. It is said that the budget for next year has increased significantly because a large amount of money is invested in the construction of the Cheonan Soccer Comprehensive Center in 2024.
Among next year’s budget revenues, the association’s own revenues, such as sponsorships from official partner companies, profits from A matches, and dividends from the International Football Federation (FIFA), are the largest at 88.7 billion won. Sports Toto fund income of 22 billion won is next.

The board of directors also reported the schedule for the appointment of a new national team manager by the National Team Strengthening Committee. The appointment of a director is planned to be completed by February next year, and it is decided to recommend a suitable leader regardless of domestic or foreign countries.
To this end, we plan to finalize the selection criteria within this month and select the first group of candidates. In January next year, the final candidates will be selected and competency checks will be conducted through candidate interviews.
