After falling 4-5 the previous day (April 24), Toronto used a quality start from Jose Berrios and the bats of George Springer, Bo Bissett, Brandon Belter, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to defeat Oakland.
Berrios earned his eighth win of the season, going six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits (one home run) with eight strikeouts and two walks. He scored one run in the second and third innings and added another in the sixth, but the offense was there to support him.
Toronto scored two runs in the first inning to take the lead. With runners on second and third, Belt led off with a sacrifice fly and scored on Chapman’s RBI single.
In the bottom of the second, Guerrero Jr. scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. In the third, Danny Jansen hit a two-run homer with one out.
In the sixth, Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer with one out. Berrios stayed on the mound through the sixth, and the bullpen closed out the final three innings in the seventh.
