Park In-Bee announces her commitment to the Olympic legacy movement
Park In-bee, a candidate for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), visited the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future on September 11 and met with Ban Ki-moon (former UN Secretary-General) and Cho Hyun-jae, President of the National Sports Promotion Organization.
As a candidate for IOC Athlete Commissioner, Park expressed her desire to contribute to the international sports community and participate in the movement to spread the Olympic legacy.

Park, who was elected as the Korean candidate for the IOC Athletes’ Commission in August 2023, met with Ban, who is also the IOC Ethics Commissioner, and said, “The Olympic Games are one of the most important events to realize global peace and friendship, and the unifying power of sport.”

Park also pledged to help spread the Olympic legacy. “In the future, I will support education to convey sports values to the youth and strive to help them learn important values such as leadership and cooperation through sports,” she said.

Cho, director of the Korea Sports Promotion Corporation, which manages the legacy of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, said, “We strongly agree with Park In-bee’s campaign to spread the Olympic legacy, and we will work together with the corporation to educate people about Olympic values and spread sports values.”
“I competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2021 Tokyo Olympics because I dreamed of becoming an Athletes’ Commissioner,” Park said during her candidacy interview. “I won the gold medal in Rio with the Olympic spirit, and now I want to play a leading role in the ‘Olympic Movement’ by sharing that spirit with the world.”
