Standing in the dugout, a foul ball hits him in the head, and MIL Adames is unexpectedly injured.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Willy Adames has been hospitalized after being hit in the head by a teammate’s foul ball.

Adames was struck in the head by a foul ball hit by Brian Anderson in the bottom of the second inning of the Brewers’ 1-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants at American Family메이저놀이터 Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S., on Sunday.

Adames was leaning against the dugout railing watching the game when Anderson’s pitch sailed into the dugout with no time to dodge and struck Adames. Adames leaned on his teammates, then got up and ran into the clubhouse.

A stunned Anderson retired on a grounder to shortstop and immediately ran to the clubhouse to check on Adames.

Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said after the game, “Adames did not suffer a fracture, but was admitted to the hospital for further observation. He is expected to be released tomorrow. He will be placed on the injured list (IL) at a later date.”

Coach Counsell told a shocked Anderson: “I know it doesn’t feel good, but it’s just an accident. It was a bad accident and it was unfortunate. It’s a bad accident, it’s unfortunate, and bad things happen when teams play.”

San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler, who watched the incident from the opposite dugout, said, “Watching it in real time, I thought he could have turned his head or put his hand up and avoided it. It was a really scary moment for both Milwaukee and our team.”

After making his major league debut in 2018, Adames was batting .205 with nine home runs, 27 RBIs, 23 runs scored and a .676 OPS in 51 games.
